When Love Passes Through the Stomach

Whether love passes through the stomach and whether there are foods that improve sexual mood, is a subject that is still under study today, where science is equipped with the most accurate and sophisticated methods of research. Perhaps this has to do with food being one of the pleasures of our everyday life that nourishes both our body and our minds. There are reports that ancient cultures, including our ancestors, chose certain foods because they believed they had aphrodisiac properties.

For chocolate lovers

The review of Dr. Bianchi-Demicheli and his colleagues in Geneva, published in March 2013, reports that flavonoids and chocolate cocoa have antioxidant, antithrombotic and cardioprotective properties. At the same time, chocolate contains biogenic amines, such as methylxanthine, theobromine and phenylethylamine, which in combination with cannabinoid fatty acids of chocolate yield mild psychotropic activity. According to the review of Revue Medicale Suisse, the combination of chocolate’s nutrients may be responsible for the effect of chocolate on endorphins and on improving one’s sexual mood.

The role of amino acids

Besides the effect of chocolate, the basic substances of the brain that affect our sexual mood are called neurotransmitters, and we need specific nutrients, such as amino acids and structural components of proteins (dairy, meat, chicken, fish and seafood). B vitamins and vitamin C act synergistically in the action of neurotransmitters. To achieve the combination, you should make one of the recommended combinations: a) yoghurt with strawberries or berries (vitamin C) and almonds (vitamin B) or b) whole meal pasta (vitamin B) with tomatoes (vitamin C) and shrimp.

Which ingredients regulate mood?

Vitamin E and magnesium are two more nutrients that play an important role in mood regulation. The former has a strong antioxidant effect and improves blood circulation, which is why many studies link it to nervous system health and sexual drive. Nuts such as walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pine nuts and avocados are foods rich in antioxidants, trace elements and vitamin E, so it is a good idea to include them regularly in your diet. It is no coincidence that one of the most traditional aphrodisiacs is honey nuts, as well as the fact that ancient peoples such as the Aztecs considered avocados the symbol of fertility.

The lovers menu:

For an explosive breakfast, combine yogurt with fresh berries, walnuts, cinnamon and honey. These ingredients can also be used in smoothies by replacing yoghurt with milk.

As a snack, opt for almonds with banana or a mixture of raw nuts with a few chocolate chips.

For dinner, an ideal choice is seafood and avocados. You can prepare a risotto with mussels and accompany it with a colorful salad with peppers, avocado and pine nuts.

Tip:

In the heart of winter combine your favorite chocolate with orange or a piece of mosaic with raw nuts.
