Stay clear of alcohol for clearer skin

Alcohol accompanies us on many social occasions, especially during the holidays, but do we know what impact it has on our health, as well as on the appearance of our skin?

According to research published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, even occasional alcohol consumption causes hypoglycemia, high calorie intake, severe dehydration of the skin and flare-ups of acne or eczema.

In the study, the women who took part in it stopped drinking alcohol for a month and the results showed a reduction in all kinds of skin reactions and smoother, clearer skin without pimples and wrinkles.

What excited the researchers and participants was that swelling in the face and around the abdomen subsided, which encouraged most women to abstain from alcohol for more than 30 days. Also, bags and dark circles under their eyes significantly receded and as a whole the women who took part in the research found their skin appeared more hydrated and elastic.

It is worth mentioning that a large percentage of women suffering from eczema and rosacea, at the end of 30 days, saw the symptoms subside dramatically.

Finally, stopping alcohol consumption minimizes the frequency of frequent hypoglycemic episodes, so that there is no need to increase the consumption of extremely fatty or sweet foods, resulting in the whole body getting rid of intense local fat, especially in the abdomen and thighs.
