The importance of sun protection

It's well known that the effect of ultraviolet radiation from UVA & UVB rays on the skin may not be visible to the naked eye but can be disastrous. UV rays are responsible for tanning, sunburn and photoaging.

UVB rays are mainly responsible for sunburn, but UVA rays reach deeper into the skin tissues and cause photoaging. When UV rays reach our skin, the cells in the dermis become hyperactive to produce melanin in the skin, to block the radiation from entering deeper into the tissues.

As UVA rays enter the deeper tissues, they destroy collagen fibres and increase the production of elastin, which in an attempt to reconstruct the skin, ends up creating wrinkles, dark spots and signs of photoaging.

The best way to combat photoaging is prevention, with the daily use of suncream in areas of the body that are exposed to the sun. According to recent research, daily use of suncream helps to prevent and protect the skin from serious damage, and those who used suncream daily had 50% fewer instances of melanoma and 24% fewer chances of presenting severe aging of the skin.

SYMMETRIA proposes Dr. Age Face Sunscreen Gel SPF 30, which will cover every need of your skin.
