The secret of optimal health

by Dr. Angelos Tsipis

The secret of optimal health related to a recent publication from the health department of Harvard University, that refers to the fact that exercise contributes to optimal health, in people aged 9 to 90. This secret is none other than regular exercise.

Obesity is now recognised as its own disease entity, as it is directly related to a series of diseases such as neoplasms, breast, endometrial, prostate and colorectal cancers, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease, stroke, liver and pancreatic diseases, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and depression.

An increase in body weight does not only depend on the amount of food we eat, but also from the modern lifestyle, which favours increased food consumption and at the same time reduces physical activity. It's true that exercise, combines with a healthy lifestyle, shields our health and protects us against illness, contributing to longevity. More specifically, physical exercise improves our physical state, increases our cardiopulmonary resistance, reduces the risk of arterial hypertension and may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by as much as 50%, as well as the onset of various forms of neoplasms. Exercise strengthens the musculoskeletal system and reduces the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, especially if it is accompanied by adequate intake of vitamin D and calcium. It helps in the correct distribution of fat in the body and improves temperature regulation in the body. In addition, it contributes to the proper functioning of the nervous system and to the regulation of sleep disorders.

Exercise also has an effect on our external appearance, as it allows the improvement of blood circulation and through this, the deposition of essential nutrients into our cells. It enhances the production of collagen in the connective tissue of the skin, reduces the depth of wrinkles and makes the skin firmer and more youthful. Exercise does not only benefit the body, but also our mental health, since it contributes to the secretion of endorphins, hormones that improve mood and reduce stress. According to research, mild exercise can improve brain function by up to 15%, helping to improve memory and thus slow the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

Regular exercise helps to reduce body weight, even if someone is sedentary at work, as it activates the metabolism for several hours afterwards. Each kilogram of muscle increases the energy usage of the body by 50 calories, even if someone does not increase their activity levels. Experts claim that 15-30 minutes of light jogging, three times a week, reduces the risk of osteoporosis by as much as 40%. In addition to walking, ideal activities to maintain good physical condition and improve endurance are cycling and swimming. It is important to incorporate exercise into our everyday life. We can, for example, use the stairs more often or use a bike instead of a car when we want to travel short distances. Finally, all modern research suggests that without physical exercise, it is almost impossible to maintain a normal body weight in the long term.

SYMMETRIA's scientific team recommends the protocol for local fat and weight loss with mild exercise (Hypoxi method), combining classic aerobic exercise with the advanced technique of activating problematic areas of the body (buttocks, hips, belly) in vacuum conditions. These conditions allow for increased blood circulation in the affected areas, and in combination with exercise, weight regulation, anti-cellulite and local fat removal are achieved at much faster rates and give much better results than traditional methods of exercise or gymnastics - which usually target those stubborn areas of the body with great difficulty, and take more time. The treatment proposed is carried out in a series of 30-40 minute sessions and is done using high-tech, advanced software. The programs are designed on a case-by-case basis based on a medical history by SYMMETRIA scientific staff and are applied under their monitoring.
