The ice-cream diet

There is no dessert that reminds us more of summertime than ice cream. It’s considered by most the highlight of the summertime, which is why we have decided to share the ice cream diet with you all.

The ice cream diet has been introduced as a means of balancing our nutrition via the consumption of a healthy, single-portion ice cream alternative that can be consumed on a regular basis. A recent studied even indicated that women who consumed a portion of full-fat dairy per day (such as ice cream) had less chances of gaining weight compared to women who did not consume full-fat dairy.

However, this does not mean that ice-cream is a healthy food option even though it is rich in calcium, phosphorus and vitamin B. Take note that 1 ball of ice cream consists of around 140-165 Kcal with around 5g of proteins – thus its not too far away from the nutritional analysis of yoghurt with fruits for example.

When it comes to preparing your own ice cream, the family-favorite goes as follows: Place 2 ripe bananas cut into slices in the freezer. After 5hrs, add them to a blender along with 1 spoon honey and ½ a vanilla stick. Re-freeze the mixture for at least 1 hour and serve cold whenever you wish. For a more intense flavor, simple add 20-25 peeled pistachios in a blender until you get a creamy texture, before adding the banana and the honey.

Tip: we recommend you try the ice-cream diet upon consulting with your dietician-nutritionist.
