How to protect your hands that are suffering especially during this time

One of the basic protection measures against COVID-19 is, as we already know, washing our hands frequently and diligently.

However, washing our hands frequently and simultaneously using house cleaning products consisting of heavy chemicals result to the dehydration of hands and sometimes to eczema.

Regarding hand wash you can choose antibacterial gels instead of traditional soap, that hydrate and soften the skin as well as killing bacteria.

Drying your hands should be done with a clean towel or kitchen roll, as it is the preferable way.

Furthermore, hydrating the hands using a hand moisturiser straight after washing and drying is necessary. In any case, and especially if you have sensitive or dry skin, it is useful to apply moisturiser on the hands every night before going to bed, so the cream can stay on your skin during the night. Preferably use creams that contain ingredients such as shea butter and aloe vera. Avoid those with fragrances and ingredients such as retinol, because they might further irritate the skin.

Finally, it would be good to wear gloves when handling house chores.

If you continue to have irritation on your hands, do not hesitate to ask for advice from the dermatologists of SYMMETRIA
