How to lose that extra summer weight!

Summer is the season of carelessness and this also applies to our eating habits. So, if your summer vacation has left you with some extra pounds, you can adopt some simple tips regarding your diet and exercise, that will help you get rid of them. 

  • Do not skip breakfast: it activates the metabolism, increases daily burning and helps to better control appetite and meals throughout the day.
  • Reduce lunch and dinner portions by 1/3.
  • Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
  • Prefer whole grain or rye products (bread, toast, cereals, crackers, pasta).
  • Eat 2-3 small meals every 3 hours, which can either be fruit, whole grains or low-fat dairy.
  • Prefer good fats, e.g. nuts, avocados and flaxseed, which are very good choices and contribute to satiety.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Weight loss will be more systematic when part of an exercise regime.
