Heat protection tips

The very high temperatures that prevail these days strain the body which requires special attention from us. What should we keep in mind during a heat wave?

The following tips will protect us from the risk of dehydration and heat stroke: 

  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun.
  • Restrict travel.
  • Avoid heavy manual work, especially in areas with high temperature, apnea and humidity.
  • Stay in shady and cool places, avoiding crowded places.
  • Dress in light, comfortable, light-colored clothes.
  • Wear a hat and sunglasses when outdoors.
  • Use air conditioner or fan indoors.
  • Close the windows during the hottest hours of the day and leave them open overnight.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Eat small, light meals, with an emphasis on eating fruits and vegetables, limiting "heavy" foods.
  • Avoid consuming coffee and alcohol.
